Here are a few pics of Evelyn's BJD Event. I have not seen all my doll buds for awhile. It was a blast! I missed everyone.

Hi Sheri!! *waves*

What a rare treat this is to hear your voice at LJ and see photos of your lovely dolls. These are your dolls or just random dolls at Evelyn's BJD event? I'm not clear on that. Lovely resin dolls though and I appreciate your sharing. HOpe all is well with you!! *hugs*

Helllloooo!!!! *waves excitedly*
It is great to hear from you too!

Most of these pics are random - This first lovely is a Volks SD13 Nono. I love the Nono mold and just had to have a pic of her. The rest were items that were for sale. I was shocked and excited that Kerbey Lane had one each of the grils and boy, the latest Volks SD Yo's for sale. Rochelle brought her SDYo Sara just as her play doll. I did buy myself a Remi. I sold a few things and splurged :-)

I am planning on buying a closeup lens for my Rebel - can you send me the info on the one that you liked??

I'll email you on Wednesday on the camera lens and to say 'hi'. Hope you and hubby are doing well . . . it's been a while. *sighs*

PS - you might also google best closeup lens for a Canon Rebel. I don't know if you are taking like a macro or just good portrait lens though . . .

*hugs*

I went to the camera store over lunch...

I played with this one --
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/12145-GREY/Canon_2537A003_50mm_f_2_5_Compact_Macro.html

I liked it alot. Sweet!

I also looked at the telephoto Macro lens
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/194451-GREY/Canon_4657A006_100mm_f_2_8_USM_Macro.html

I was out with my camera over the weekend -- trying to photograph these Gorgeous dragonflies- I had never seen a Red Dart before! That's the time I really REALLY wished I had a Macro lens. But - tell me if I am wrong - I probably don't need the telephoto to take pics of my dolls...

I went out to shuttefly to see your lovely photos. If that's primarily what you would be shooting in additional to dolls . . . maybe a macro is the way to go for you. It will give you better detail in close ups on things like that great Red Dart dragonfly who was very awesome and I had never seen one before. Hubby and I love dragonflies. We even had dragonfly metal art in our yard. LOL!

Well that's just it exactly. Buy the lens for the main purpose you plan to shoot. If you want to shoot closeups of flowers and insects, and some closeup portraits of dolls and their faceups . . . maybe a macro is the way to go.

Of the three lenses that you originally posted . . . I actually liked the sound of the Sigma 310 101 Normal 5omm f1.4 lens (the third one). I read all reviews by people who buy a lens to see what they like. I like a lens that is super sharp and focuses quickly. I have the Canon 50mm f1.4 lens (the first on the list) and don't care for it. It's slow to focus, not as sharp as I like and just seems clunky.

Most of my photography of dolls does not require me to do super closeups of faceups . . . but many people do use the 50mm f1.4 for that purpose since it's a versatile lens.

Soooo . . . I'm not sure I'm much help. I shoot on manual settings except for the focusing. I use auto focus . . . just a function of getting older and needing glasses alot . . . so sharp, fast focusing lenses are critical for me. I hate feeling dependent on that since I use to shoot without wearing glasses once upon a time. LOL!!

Darn - I want them both ....

The Macro lens and the 55mm f/1.4 lens.... I have a few dolls on my WANT list too. When it rains it pours - Decisions Decisions!!!

Re: My weekend pics
Dan is a very good naturalist... he found both the hawk and both dragonflies. He has great curiosity and eye to detail when we are out and about. A walking encyclopedia, that is what he is!
